in 1919 Alexander Alekhine was suspected to be a spy nd cought by Odesa Cheka. he spents 2 weeks in jail .. ..later the chess governing body came to his rescue. ...Alekhine was a world champion nd he was playing correspondence game when there was censorship on mails..the Odesa police cudnt understand the chess moves nd thot that there wre codes to send messeges abroad.
