Pancake: To some Muslims is haram to celebrate birthdays to some isn't so I don't know Harris if I should wish you happy birthday or not
it's not haraam but it's unrecommended and discouraged. personally I have never celebrated my own birthday or my kids's birthdays in my entire life. but if someone wish me with prayers or duas on any given day, I'll thank them and wish them back.

Pancake: Well that's what some Muslims told me when I wished them happy birthday, it was haram, they quoted me from the Qur'an to prove it, so I had to ask you first.. Happy birthday then smiley
thank you very much. plz share the reference with which they proved it's haraam.. as far as I know it cannot be haraam.. because it's not an innovation in the religion.

Pancake: I can't find those messages anymore but I'll post messages from a topic where a Muslim woman was attacked by other Muslims for making a happy birthday post : "Prophet Muhammad (Peace and blessings be upon him)didn't celebrate his birthday. And the early generations didn't celebrate his birthday, it wasn't until some 400 years after the time of Prophet Muhammad (Peace and blessings be upon him), that his birthday began to be celebrated in Egypt, in the Fatimid Shiite rule." "Birthday celebration is unislamic ! holy prophet pbuh nvr celbrts nor even hes companions, shame on those MUSLIMS who celebrts such thing tht islam nvr th8 o teach. may be in shiaism is permisible as dey r nt blongs to true islam" "Subhanallah, the mercy of Allah is never disputed, what is disputed ithe idea of celebrating birthdays like the way u r doing now, what difference is it then from the christians that celebrate christmas cos of the birth of Christ???" "its a totaly new thing in Islam. Allahuma salle'ala Muhammad, wa ala' aalehe, wa ashabehe, wa baraka wasallam, wa mun tabe'ahoo elaa yomiddeen.ameen." prodigits.co.uk/forums/?sid=&;forum=religion&id=1668123&tt=44 Link won't work, I don't know why.... Its an old topic made by a user named Kekasih and to pic's name is Happy Birthday, you will find it only if you go the Religions&Beliefs forum using the search button. I think I deleted the messages you requested because I can't find them anymore, lol
Thank you for the reply.. Again as I said, it's not Haraam. Haraam means Prohibited. Nowhere in any Islamic scripture you may find any direct statement from Allah or His Messenger about prohibiting celebration of birthdays. but when there is no proof either of them celebrating birthdays those days, it cannot be categorically termed as haraam in whatever reference they quote. However Islamic scholars have a difference of opinion on this subject. as far as I'm concerned, I try to avoid things which are ambiguous. just trying to be safe for the sake of my hereafter.
