Be4 beginning i would like to draw ur attention on the fact that after crossing 8x optical zoom the digital cameras are no more mere cameras, these would become camcorders virtually so there will be low image quality especially in low light; it seems that Nikkon & Canon only produce high quality image in low light despite having high zoom lenses © CLICK FOLLOWING LINK FOR LOW ZOOM DIGITAL CAMERAS [topic=2907521]Best Low Price Digital Cameras[/topic] 1.> panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS10 Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS10 Specifications Effective Pixels: 14.1 Megapixels MOS Sensor: 1/2.33-inch MOS sensor LCD Monitor: 3.0 TFT Screen LCD Display (460K dots) Lens: LEICA DC VARIO-ELMAR (3 Aspherical Lenses / 6 Aspherical surfaces / 1 ED Lens) Optical Zoom: 16x Digital Zoom: 4x Extra Optical Zoom (EZ): 18.9x (4:3 / 10M), 22.5x (4:3 / 7M), 27.0x (4:3 / 5M), 33.8x (4:3 / under 3M) Intelligent Zoom: 21x Focus: Normal / AF Macro, Zoom Macro, Quick AF, AF Tracking, Touch AF/AE, Continuous AF (only for motion picture) Focal Length: f=4.3-68.8mm (24-384mm in 35mm equiv.) hold on! it has a special Active Mode POWER O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilizer) with Active Mode For more effective countermeasure against blur, the Active Mode is newly equipped with the DMC-ZS10(TZ20) for an option of image stabilization in movie recording. In addition to the conventional POWER O.I.S., the Active Mode effectively suppress blur in movie recording especially at wide angle while walking or playing with your children. In addition, it's an optical system so there's no image degradation. It‘s especially good for active movie shooting.

Nikon Coolpix s8100 COOLPIX S8100 Announced : 08-09-2010 With the new image-processing engine, EXPEED C2, the COOLPIX S8100 is recommended for those who want to maximise their individual power of expression. Price: INR 13,450 (Maximum Retail Price) Colors Available: Black, Red, Champagne Gold Freebees: Pouch & 4GB SD Card Pro: Con: 12.1-megapixel BSI CMOS sensor Very good 10x Nikkor ED VR optical zoom lens 30-300mm eq. lens is reasonably wide with good telephoto reach Very fast shutter lag, rivaling digital SLRs Solid feel, comfortable grip Very simple control layout Excellent 3-inch LCD screen with 921K dots 10 fps burst shooting Good overall color with adequate light Full HD video at 30 fps with stereo sound Optical zoom supported in videos HDMI port Backlight HDR Sharp macro results Good printed results Scene Auto Selector analyzes each scene to pick the correct settings Very little geometric distortion Good corner sharpness at telephoto Good detail even at ISO 3,200 ISO 160 makes a good 16x20-inch print ISO 3,200 makes a good 5x7-inch print Few manual options No dedicated battery charger Output compartment door seems flimsy Charging port is difficult to reach Below-average battery life Hard-to-reach on/off button Soft corners at wide-angle Bright chromatic aberration at wide and telephoto Auto white balance renders Incandescent lighting a bit too red The Nikon S8100 is supplied with an EN-EL12 lithium-ion battery. Per CIPA standards it lasts for 210 shots in still mode. Even though I got more than that during my tests, this is below average, so a spare makes good sense for anyone planning on spending a long day in the field. Speaking of the battery, Nikon does not supply a dedicated charger. You connect the camera to an AC adapter via the supplied USB cable. In other words you have to charge the battery in-camera so your new baby is out of commission until it's re-juiced. The plus side is that you can charge the battery via your computer's USB port, so long as you've brought along the Nikon S8100's USB cable. Overall, we liked the Nikon Coolpix 8100, and had a lot of fun shooting with it. Outdoors, the Nikon S8100 takes very good photographs with excellent color. Indoors, the camera does reasonably well considering the 12-megapixel resolution and long zoom; and the Nikon S8100 even has HDR modes to deal with difficult lighting situations. The most important feature of the Nikon S8100 is its 10x zoom in a compact frame which is a real bonus for street photographers and vacationers. I liked it and definitely consider the Backlight HDR a real plus. Shutter lag and overall control response is excellent, yet the 4-way VR is not the best stabilization system I've used. Videos are acceptable, if not in the same league as a camcorder; but at least you can zoom optically while recording, for greater versatility. In the end, it's the printed results that matter, making us feel good about recommending the Nikon Coolpix S8100 as a quality contender in the pocket long zoom space, and a Dave's Pick!

In addition, decorations can be applied, and the supplied stylus can be used to write on photos taken with the camera. The touch panel makes operations, such as just tapping the monitor to create slide shows with animated characters, easy and intuitive. Equipped with 4 functions that enable capture of beautiful nighttime shots in difficult dimly lit or dark surroundings Low noise at high sensitivities The combination of the EXPEED C2 image processing engine that supports high sensitivities and advanced noise reduction processing technology enables superior image quality in images captured at ISO 1600 with automatic ISO sensitivity adjustment and ISO 3200 with manual ISO sensitivity specification. Motion detection The camera detects camera shake and subject movement with shooting, and automatically compensates by controlling shutter speed and ISO sensitivity. Lens-shift vibration reduction (VR) The effects of camera shake are reduced to a degree equivalent to a three-step increase in shutter speed. Flash control Not only is shutter speed reduced with shooting in dimly lit or dark surroundings, but ISO sensitivity is also adjusted to reduce blur caused by camera shake for brighter, more natural photos A variety of shooting, playback and retouch functions that enable creation of photos as intended Pet Portrait mode (new!): When a dog or cat faces the camera, the camera detects the face, focuses on it and then releases the shutter, all automatically. The shutter can also be released manually by disabling the Pet Portrait Auto Release feature. Nikon Coolpix S5100 -5X Optical Zoom ; Rs 12995 - 15000 The Nikon Coolpix S5100 is a stylish new 12.2-megapixel digital compact camera with a 5x optical zoom and 2.7 inch LCD screen. Other highlights of the S5100 include optical Vibration Reduction, 720p HD video recording, 18 scene modes, Scene Auto Selector, Subject Tracking and Nikon’s Smart Portrait System, a new flash control system plus motion and tripod detection. In general terms the Nikon's images can look rather muddy at times, particularly when shooting at maximum telephoto and in lower light, benefiting from auto adjustment in Photoshop or simply opting for the vivid mode on the camera itself to boost colour saturation and add visual punch to formerly flat shots. These are minor gripes however and when conditions are ideal the Nikon can deliver some impressively sharp results that belie its budget status. Admittedly at the end of the day you're left with snaps rather than high art, but the S5100 suggests itself as an able tool for the back pocket for reference shots and the like.

Sony Cybershot DSC-HX9V Reviewed: Jul 2011 1/2.3" Exmor R CMOS sensor 16.2 megapixels | 3" screen | 24 384 mm (16) Specifications Lens Optical Zoom 16x Precision Digital Zoom Approx. 64x (Total) Smart Zoom up to 115x (with VGA) • 3.0 inch Xtra Fine LCD with TruBlack technology • approx. 921,000 pixels Digital input/output • USB 2.0 High Speed • Multi-use terminal Video output • HDMI • NTSC/ PAL Storage • Internal memory (TBC) • SD/SDHC/SDXC • Memory Stick Duo/Pro Duo/ Pro HG Duo The GPS-enabled DSC-HX9 features Sony's newly-developed back-illuminated Exmor R CMOS sensor, and is capable of recording full 1080p60 HD videos. For still photography the HX9 offers 10fps continuous shooting. The HX9 boasts a 16x (24-384mm equiv.) optical zoom lens and a 921k dot display, and it can generate both high resolution panoramics and also 3D images. The Sony HX9V is a very capable camera when it comes to image quality and video, shots are generally sharp from edge to edge, colors are vivid and well-exposed and the video quality is amongst the best of any compact camera we've ever seen. However, much like its predecessor the HX5, its image performance is overshadowed by sluggish operational speed. Slow start-up and playback make the HX9V irritating at times when you are either unprepared for an unexpected photo opportunity or want to review your images while shooting restless subjects such as children or pets.

It recorded noise-free images at ISO 100, 200 and 400, with some noise and slight colour desaturation at ISO 800. ISO 1600 shows more obvious noise and loss of colour but still remains perfectly usable, and even the fastest setting of ISO 3200 doesn't suffer too badly.

Low light shooting with the Nikon Coolpix S9100 was just as tasty as it was with the S8100. Noise management was surprisingly spot on, and the S9100 gave the Canon PowerShot SD4500 IS a run for its money. Both cameras will perform well in low light, and the S9100 had plenty of tools to get the job done. In bright light, the Nikon Coolpix S9100 also impressed us with a vivid color palette and stellar macro shots. Of course, we encountered entry-level image aberrations, like out of focus smearing, purple fringing, and blue noise at ISO 3200. However, the Nikon Coolpix S9100 proved itself as a camera that could be deployed and used to capture impressive still images on the fly. You have a lot of options for recording high-definition video with the S9100—1080 at 30 frames per second and 720 at 30 and 60 fps. (60 frames per second is very rare, on anything other than a dedicated camcorder.) You even have the option to create low-resolution (320 by 240) slow motion video, capturing 240 frames per second. Videos are captured as .MOV files which can be uploaded into YouTube and Facebook readily. The S9100 allows you to use its giant zoom while recording video, but when zooming in and out you'll capture subtle noise from the lens motor. It can also autofocus while it's recording, and in my tests, I didn't hear any noise while it did so. There's a built-in stereo microphone, so captured audio sounds great too. You can play videos back on your HDTV by connecting a cable to the S9100's built-in mini-HDMI port. Files can be transferred to your computer via the camera's proprietary USB port. The camera writes to SD, SDHC, and SDXC memory cards.

Ultimately my choice is Canon 115 HS for low bujet only rs 9445 with 4x zoom and Sony Hx9v for high zoom and its zoom level can be increased using precision zoom. When the picture size is reduced long enough zoom can be obtained. I have personally tested hx9v and its features are awesome. I have also tested hx100v but the only difference is higher zoom which is not a much factor as 16x zoom can be increased reducing the picture size but its enough as we generally print 4by6 size or even smaller as post card size
