What zoo's do you know of or have been to that you consider to be the best?

The Bronx Zoo (New York) has such a strong sense of international field programs and some excellent design, especially the Congo exhibit with gorillas up close. Jersey Zoo (Channel Islands off the coast of England) because of the connection with Gerry Durrel and his inspiring philosophy. He was ahead of his time, saving island species from extinction. (his concept was that zoos should be primarily concerned with saving and breeding endangered species, and he founded the Jersey Zoo to put his ideas into practice).

Monarto Zoo (South Australia) Is the outstanding open range zoo in the world, it's also the largest, and a place that is dedicated to conservation. It's a model of how zoos could be in the future, where the animals have wonderful space to roam in an appropriate climate and people can choose to get up and feel as they are in the animal's environment and not the other way around. You can pay to go into the cheetah's enclosure, or you can help feed the lions and put them to bed.

The Conservation Ark project Launched in 2008, runs the largest native species conservation, breeding and recovery program in Australia. It includes a breeding program at Monarto for Tasmanian Devils, a threatened species on their home island. It is involved in various international projects involving animals such as cheetahs, orangutans, tigers, gorillas and bears. The end point for the panda project for Wang Wang and Funi to produce a little panda and to help build up the species sufficiently so that one day they can be released back into the wild.

NANDANKANAN,bhubaneswar, India Nandankanana zoo in bhubaneswar is one of the 1st zoo in INDIA, it is a also unique in that is combined with botanical garden spread over 173 acres and kanja lake 66 hectares. The zoo also provides 4 wild life safari 4 white tiger and lions . Nandanakanan biological park is also host a zoo 4 captive breeding of white tigers out of normal coloured parents. Nandankanan spreads over a vast area of 362 hectares . It houses a number of free living animals and birds in zoo belonging 126 species The encloser 4 caged animals are quite large to the animal can freely move around LOIN SAFARI & WHITE TIGHER SAFARI can be expecting but on has to be patient to spot the animals. Safari is conducted in a small bus moves about the forest area where Loins and Tigers are set free to roam around.
