The kagebunshin technique was Narutos specialty. It was a lousy attack when the series started, but later on, Naruto was able to improve it and develop other techniques that uses the kagebunshin.
One of the main secret of that technique is to confuse the opponent which one is the real Naruto. As you know, every single shadow that Naruto casts has same amount of chakra as him and you wont notice any difference on their characters as well.
Shadow clones must be Narutos most powerful allies when he fights. Although lousy, they can be so many. And before you would be able to eliminate them all, youre out of strength anymore, and more shadows are coming to you.
The first time we see millions of shadow clones was when Naruto was fighting against Kimimaro, who was trying to hinder him from saving Sasuke. There were also several shadows he casted when he was fighting against Gaara in the forest.
On the latest chapter of the Manga, chapter 442, he fights against Pain and another millions of shadow clones appeared. They disguised as rocks around Pain, and as Pain recovers his strength in 5 seconds, all the shadows come towards him. We all know they can be blown by the shinra tensei at once, but they stood Pains attack. After the attack, Naruto got a best spot to throw his attack. He casted a powerful Rasengan taught by Jiraiya and caught Pain perfectly. Thats by the help of his great shadow clones.
At the end of the chapter, it was still unconfirmed whether theres still a breath left for Pain. But I have a gut feel that its Pains end. Naruto wins.
So, are we hoping for Sasukes scenes in the coming chapters? Anyone misses him yet?
